Why this site exists
This website was created to share Corey Webb’s story clearly and honestly. Corey was a teenager when he entered the justice system, and he was given a sentence that many believe failed to account for his age, development, circumstances, and capacity for change. We are building public awareness, gathering support, and creating a place where people can learn the facts and take action.
Corey was a child when his life changed forever
In 2010, Corey Webb was 16 years old. He had run away from home and ended up in Tyler, Texas, where he was taken into custody. What followed changed the course of his life. He was later sentenced to 50 years for aggravated assault against a public servant. His mother has described the case as a nightmare shaped by failures in the system, unanswered questions, and a punishment that did not fit a teenager’s actions or potential for growth.
This is about more than one scentence
Corey’s case raises larger questions about how the justice system treats young people. What does accountability look like when the person was still a child? What room should there be for growth, maturity, and change? How should communities respond when punishment extends so far that it eclipses the possibility of redemption?
Public awareness matters. Legal advocacy matters. Community pressure matters.
If Corey’s story moves you, there are ways to help.
